Club Monte De Oro

Club Monte de Oro

The project developer’s concept: The dream of living at the sea is as old as civilization.

We are drawn to our original element.

And the opportunities and possibilities of living in your own house on the sea are as numerous as the grains of sand.

Real exclusiveness is rare. The excellent location, sensitive architectural concept, and the solid, sophisticated features make our Club Monte de Oro an exclusive rarity.

Of course we chose the most enchanting island in the world – Mallorca –to be the home of our club.

Mallorca is the radiant sun of the Mediterranean, Menorca, Ibiza and Cabrera are its shining rays.

(Jasson Blean, Catalan traveler 1672)

Project development was in the hands of Jürgen Krauss and his architect Pedro Otzoup. Pedro Otzoup had realized many dream residences in the past (Club Cala Fornells and private homes).

However, the club’s builder was Antonio Carzola, a partner of Jürgen Kraus.

The architects and builders skillfully combined the architectural influences of millennia in a new Mallorquin style, reborn in Club Monte de Oro.

The Costa de la Calma is located in the large, calm bay of Paguera. A true El Dorado for water sport enthusiasts: calm water for skiing and a constant light breeze for windsurfing and sailing. Turquoise water, clear meters deep, invites you to take a dip every morning. A bizarrely formed cleft in the rugged landscape with an idyllic small sandy beach.

Club Monte de Oro is located in a hilly area that slopes down slightly southward to the sea. The ancient pine forest on these hills remains.

Details: Pueblo - Bungalows

This is what we call the individual residential units. This expression was new when the club was begun, and describes precisely the building style at Club Monte de Oro. The architects combined the look of an old Mallorquin pueblo with modern terrace architecture.

The special location of the property on a hill sloping down to the sea practically demands this building style. Adapting to the landscape creates a lively up and down, joined by stairs and intermediate levels. This gives rise to quiet niches and spacious terraces facing the sun.

Project development

The start of the Monte de Oro project was in 1983 with the first promotion, consisting of the Ibiza, Formentera, Menorca and Mallorca buildings.

The second promotion was built in 1984 after the project developers purchased the remaining property on the coast. The buildings of the second promotion were: Atlantico, Pacifico, Caribe, and Cabrera.

After the residential buildings, the community pool and joint facilities with their special details were built.

All of the pueblos have one thing in common: generously designed community pool facilities that are connected with each other by waterfalls. The pool facilities also include the club bar – La Terrazza del Club Monte de Oro – that offers Mallorquin and international food and drink almost all year round.

All works were completed in 1986.

Presidium

The first presidium was appointed in 1986 and consisted of Mr. Poggensee, Mr. Hedinger, Mr. Rosslenbroich, and Mr. Wehmeyer.

During the construction phase, Jenny Mikoray and then Klaus Müller Thyssen served as first secretary, taking care of all issues of owners when moving in. The club’s first official administrative position was held by Ms. Caro, who was supported by Mr. Oro in all technical areas.

The second presidium consisted of Mr. Hengstermann, Mr. Wehmeyer, and Mr. Fabian beginning in 1987. After one year, Mr. Thüer was elected to replace Mr. Fabian.

This presidium headed the club until 2007, when the president, Mr. Hengstermann, died tragically.

From 2007 until 2010, the presidium consisted of Mr. Wehmeyer, Mr. Fischer, Ms. Remagen, Ms. Ridderskamp, Mr. Zietz, and Mr. Thüer.

In 2010 Mr. Telahr was elected as head of the presidium. He is supported by vice-president Mr. Thüer and Mrs. Remagen in her role of treasurer. Mr. Zietz complements the presidium as the technical consultant.

In 1986, Ms. Stiegler was hired as secretary of the club and remained in this position until 2005. In that year, Mr. Damson became the secretary and Ms. Kempis was employed in 2006 as office assistant and editor.

Gastronomy

The first restaurant at the club bar was run by Sa Masia, later taken over by Richard Höfer.

Mr. Höfer was assisted by Marietta and later by Lucia. In 2003 Gloria Fackeldey and Christof Reichenberger came to us and since then have added luster to the pool bar – La Terrazza del Club Monte de Oro – on the Costa de Calma.

On the occasion of the annual owners meeting the popular owners’ festival is also held, which has become an important part of club life.

Of the original owners, 40% still live in the club.
